Thursday, September 11, 2003

Wow! I haven't updated for so long! but check out the new colour scheme in support of the Mighty Green Machine as they enter the business end of the season. May they go forth and conquer!

(and I know it really sucks, but using xanga is so easy, I really couldn't be bothered with anything more technical)

Uni has been really hectic lately. damn assignments. Lectures aren't too bad though, however I tend to nearly doze off in my 9am classes, especially macro2 - the seats are so comfy, it's like sitting in the cinema. What has tended to keep me awake has been the efforts of 'creepy guy' to make a complete tool of himself, and the guys sitting behind us imitating him.

I've been taking yoga classes at uni every thursday this semester - I find they really relaxing yet challenging - I highly recommend it. I also recommend cheese on baked potatoes.

Finding Nemo gets two thumbs up, Krispy Kreme gets like 2 major thumbs up. mmm... glazed doughnuts...

Steph on Neighbours get a disapproving glance this week for being so stupid about her breast cancer diagnosis - she's only hurting herself. However since she does always seem to get screwed over, she can have a reassuring pat on the back too. Toadie and Conner are putting together a pretty powerful scheming combo there - love the ebay storyline, reminds me of the good old days of Toadie/Lance/Billy. ahh those were the days...

Thought of the week ... Being independent is very satisfying, knowing that if you really want something you can go out and get it yourself.

Oh and pic of the week must go to:

Quick update:

Australia are playing NZ in the final of the 11th World Netball Championships tomorrow morning in Kingstown, Jamaica (9:30am on the ABC). Guaranteed to be a great game – Australia only won their semi over a strong English team by 9 goals while NZ took down hometown favourites Jamaica by 19 goals (pity it wasn’t broadcasted – would have been a brilliant match). The Aussie girls need to come out strong and play consistently through the match, watch those passes across the circle and get to 80% in the goal. Lets’ hop Jill puts out the strong defensive combination of Harby-Williams and Ellis on the court.  The lack of coverage of NZ matches mean I don’t have much to go on their current form – but they are always going to finish strong in a Trans-Tasman clash, playing for pride and to stop the Australian dominance of the world platform. NZ has always had a strong team and their lethal shooter of Van Dyke will prove a challenge for the Aussie defenders to shut down. Though lets hope the Aussie pull off a 4th consecutive World title win!

My ankle is still slowly killing me. It hasn’t swollen as much as I expected, though I haven’t been came enough the take off the compression bandage yet to examine the bruising. After nearly 2 ½ hours in the medical centre last night, all the doctor could tell us that is was not broken – though I could tell that already. They are going to send the x-rays off to check for hairline fractures, but I’m guessing that it’s probably just a really bad sprain/ligament damage. Oh well, I’m getting really good at hopping!

just out of interest I popped 'miss jaynie' into the yahoo search engine tonight - this web log doesn't come up to number 42, mushroom's site came up as number 18, however most of 1-20 contained a mention of this Miss Jaynie! ... lets just say ... ummm ... not quite sure what to say! what's with the pearls?

With regards to comments made on a friend’s web log, I have decided to voice my own opinion on the matter. In no way am I degrading other opinions, as I believe in freedom of opinion/speech, hence I hope that others will respect my opinions.

Upon hearing the news that Delta Goodrem has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma disease, I immediately felt sympathy for both Delta, her family and friends. Cancer should not be wished upon anyone, not just because I believe in karma, but due to the devastation it causes on one's body, mind and soul.

I must say I have been a huge fan of Neighbours for a very long time, and I have no qualms with Delta's acting. She plays her role, and the character as the writers portray it. Need I remind those disagreeing with me on this point about Hannah Martin, or Summer and Boyd - the actor are playing a brat, nosey-little-shit and angst-driven teenage boy, which is no reflection on the actors own personality. Nina is simply a sugar-sweet confused and misguided teenager, and if she seems ‘fake’ need I remind you of some of the people we know!

As for her musical career, I think she is very talented, and it is a shame her career is being halted whilst she battles cancer. Delta has taken the time and effort to carry her career without resulting to striping off her clothes – and that I respect. She has a great manager – (I was shocked to hear mushroom has never heard of Glenn Wheatley!), and has worked with writers who themselves have earned a reputation is her chosen genre of music.

I wish Delta and her family the best of wishes during this difficult time.

On a lighter note – Nima the Harry Potter bandaids are cool, but J&J are slowly discontinuing the HP range of products, such as the toothpaste, so stock up while you can. Other than HP, I strongly recommend ‘The Wiggles’ bandaids.

Last Thursday, I took Admiral (picture to the left of screen, cat on the right) to the vet. Lets just say, Addy gave the urine sample before she was asked, and nearly all over me. Then today when we took Soxy (cat on left of pic), he took a bit of prodding to start pissing, but with the blood test he wasn’t so forthcoming with veins, it took 4 jabs with the needle before they hit some blood – poor baby! He’s now mopping in the lounge room, and smelling of disinfectant.

Also started GenEd this week, is quite interesting. Not much else to say.
